Crying is Not a Weakness

Crying is Not a Weakness

Let’s talk about crying…

Many of us were led to believe that crying was weak or a form or weakness.

That couldn’t be further from the truth!

We have been programmed from a very young age to either stop crying, or suppress our emotions as quickly as possible because we don't want to seem weak or inferior.

Here's the thing: Crying is a very healthy way to process emotions through our body, when we suppress them - let me be clear - we are NOT getting rid of them.

Crying is a very healthy and normal biological response.

When we suppress our tears and/or emotions, we are not processing them, so they stay in our body and they will affect us, mentally, physically, emotionally later on.

So, I'm giving you permission today to cry, to know that it is a normal reaction and function of your body.

And I encourage you to find a safe space to do this if you need to.

Whether you're crying tears of joy or tears of sadness, know that there is nothing wrong with crying.

Let's rewrite the narrative around crying. It doesn't make you weak.

And if you're feeling shame, I want to let you know that you don't have to feel that way.

There is no need to feel shame when you cry.

It’s OK if you do or you have, just know that you can let that go and release it.
