Lauren “Lo” Myrick Named to the McDowell Athletics Hall of Fame, Class of 2026
McDowell Athletics has announced its Hall of Fame Class of 2026, and I’m honored to share that I’m one of this year’s inductees!
First, Congratulations to the rest of the Hall of Fame Class of 2026! I am honored to be in your company.
I graduated from McDowell in 2006 as an eight-time high school All-American and a four-year varsity athlete in both swimming and water polo. To be recognized by the program that shaped so much of who I am, and to join this year’s class, means more than I can easily put into words.
In truth, those years were an absolute grind. I was constantly pushing myself to my limits, and then past them. Now I know and teach the value of rest and balance as a key to unlocking peak performance. (Had I rested more then, I probably would have done even better!)
The values my coaches and upperclassmen instilled in me, like discipline, accountability, and competing for something bigger than yourself, taught me how to perform under pressure, how to lead, and how to build real resilience.
In 2004, my junior year, we won the Water Polo State Championship. We didn’t win because any one of us was the best player in the pool. We won because of how well we worked together, and that showed me what real teamwork can do.
The next year, after losing key starters and All-Americans, I led our team to a state runner-up finish and earned First Team All-American honors, only the second in our school’s history.
Our head coach, Dave Schultz, was teaching us visualization, cross-training, nutrition, and performance optimization over 20 years ago!!! Long before any of it was mainstream. It’s no surprise that those tools are the foundation of the principles I’ve built my career on today. Now, I help people unlock higher levels of performance without burning out.

2005 Beast of the East All-Tournament Team
Standout 2005 season with 64 goals, 95 steals, 30 assists, and 66 sprints won

2002 Water Polo Rookie of the Year
Among McDowell’s all-time career leaders in goals (118), steals (191), sprints won (139), assists (51), and field saves (7)
Swimming
Three straight District 10 Class AAA titles in the 100 butterfly (2004–2006) and back-to-back 100 freestyle titles (2005–2006)
8 x District 10 relay titles: four consecutive in the 200 medley relay, three consecutive in the 200 freestyle relay, and one in the 400 freestyle relay
Currently holds Top 10 times in 7 different events, more than anyone in school history, male or female (as of September 2026)
Ranked #6 all-time on the District Ten scorers list and #9 all-time on the PIAA scorers list for women’s swimming
Part of the 200-yard freestyle relay that still holds the McDowell pool record (1:39.21, 2003)
Set the pool and school record in the 200 freestyle (1:56.34, 2006)*
Set the pool record in the 100 freestyle (53.79, 2006)*
Undefeated as a team in dual-meet competition and District 10 Class AAA team champions all four years
